Chapter 108: The Grandmaster’s Coffin of the Ancient Dynasty Appears (Seeking Monthly Tickets! Seeking Subscriptions!)
Chapter 108: Chapter 108: The Grandmaster’s Coffin of the Ancient Dynasty Appears (Seeking Monthly Tickets! Seeking Subscriptions!)
An Jing’s thoughts landed on the Earth Book, and seeing those several prompts, his heart trembled slightly.
“Blue opportunity, and there are two of them?”
One must know that the Buddhist relic, the Bodhi Bead, is merely a yellow opportunity, while the Heaven and Earth Spiritual Essence is a green opportunity, the same as the incomplete Evil Suppressing Sword.
A blue opportunity is even more precious than these two treasures; how could he not be surprised that there were two blue opportunities in this cave?
But he also noticed the last prompt, that there was also a black opportunity within the cave.
An Jing tightened his grip on the longsword in his hand and then looked towards the dark cavern ahead.
The entrance to the cave was extremely small, with protruding strange rocks on both sides, under which only one person could pass through.
“Swoosh!” “Swoosh!”
An Jing’s body leaped, his feet landing on the strange rocks, heading towards the deep cave.
“Ch!”
Because it was too dark in front of him, An Jing took out a fire striker from his chest and then gently blew on it.
The faint firelight illuminated the path ahead.
Although the entrance was small, the space inside the cave clearly became much larger, and there were some rough pits on the ground.
“Drip-drip!” “Drip-drip!”
At that moment, a droplet of water fell from above.
There are cracks in the cave where water from the ground squeezes through, so these falling droplets are normal.
An Jing looked up and his brows furrowed slightly.
He saw two black bats hanging upside down from the rock wall above.
Somehow, these two bats exuded a sense of eeriness, giving one the chills.
Besides the bats, there were some insects on the walls, and a cricket jumped out.
An Jing glanced at them and then continued to walk forward.
“Hiss-hiss!” “Hiss-hiss!”
In the next moment, the bats originally hanging upside down suddenly stretched their wings and rushed towards An Jing at high speed.
“Whiz!”
An Jing was prepared; he drew his longsword and a streak of sword light shot out.
“Pfft!” “Pfft!”
The two bats that flew down fell to the ground, their blood spilling inside the cave.
“There’s something strange…”
An Jing looked at the bisected bats on the ground.
Bats mostly feed on insects, and by nature, they shouldn’t be so ferocious and bloodthirsty, charging at someone upon sight.
This indicated that there was indeed something different about this cave.
An Jing, holding the longsword, continued forwards.
The cave was long, and unknowingly, he had walked more than twenty zhang without seeing the end. The already chilly weather became even colder, and the openings on either side narrowed even further.
A suffocating, sinister atmosphere gradually rose.
“Hmm?!”
Suddenly, as if sensing something, An Jing looked ahead.
“Splash-splash! Splash-splash!” “Splash-splash! Splash-splash!”
The next moment, countless black bats rushed from the cave ahead, a dense mass that resembled ominous clouds bearing down.
Upon closer inspection, the eyes of these bats seemed to carry a bloodthirsty glint as they saw An Jing, as if they had seen delicious food.
A chill flashed in An Jing’s eyes as he slashed with his longsword!
“Chi!”
A sword light burst forth from the blade, stirring violently towards the front.
The sword light was slender, carrying an ultimate sharpness, as if it intended to tear a gap through the oppressive dark clouds ahead.
“Puch!” “Puch!”
Countless bats fell to the ground, convulsing a few times before dying completely, their blood instantly staining the cave red.
But those bats that were not struck seemed to have their ferocity ignited, and they charged at An Jing even more frantically.
In An Jing’s hands, the longsword danced, airtight, and in an instant, all the encroaching bats were sliced apart by the sharp sword qi. Yet, the bats behind them, as if devoid of reason, kept rushing forward.
Before long, the ground within a meter of him was covered in the corpses of bats and their blood.
The scarlet blood pooled in the pits on the ground like so many blood pits, sending chills down the spine at a glance.
“Swoosh! Swoosh!”
A gust of cold wind blew, feeling like countless flying needles piercing into the bone marrow.
“Corpse qi!?”
An Jing’s inner strength circulated, and the biting wind was like snowflakes meeting flames, melting away in an instant.
“It seems that Chen Xiaor, must have been bitten by these bats here, which is why he was contaminated with corpse qi,” An Jing realized.
Typical hunters who have learned some martial arts usually have cultivation around the Ninth or Eighth Grade, not particularly profound, so being bitten by a bat and having corpse qi enter the body wouldn’t hold out for long.
After Chen Xiaor ran out, he passed out before he could encounter his companions, and subsequently, the corpse qi invaded his heart and killed him.
An Jing stepped over the bodies of these bats and continued to move forward.
The cave was deep, as if it had no end, and the deeper he went, the smaller the entrance became. Initially, it could accommodate five people walking side by side, but now it could only fit about three.
The cave walls glowed, as if adorned with patterns.
“Patterns!?”
An Jing’s footsteps faltered slightly at this sight, then he turned to look at the walls on either side.
After countless years of erosion, the patterns on the walls of the cave had become quite faint, but vestiges of the carving were still visible.
This suggested that the cave might be man-made, or that someone had visited and carved these murals.
“Corpse qi? Man-made?”
An Jing’s eyebrows raised, “Could this be someone’s tomb?”
Anyone who could build a tomb in this cliff must be extraordinary, perhaps with significant history.
But generally, important individuals who build tombs consider the discourse of feng shui and fortune, and in Jianghu, there are feng shui masters who have a unique understanding and study of qi mechanisms.
True feng shui masters are extremely rare; most feng shui masters in Jianghu are charlatans, who deceive rich merchants to swindle unrighteous wealth.
So far, the one An Jing had encountered who truly understood feng shui would be Jiang Sanjia, a descendant of the Ghost Valley Sect whose expertise in feng shui, prophecy, and calculation was indeed profound.
Although An Jing did not understand feng shui, he could tell that this place was not an ideal feng shui treasure spot; it could even be described as a malicious place.
With this thought, he looked at the wall, becoming curious.
The patterns on the walls resembled some kind of carvings, beautifully simple and not complex.
There were people depicted in the patterns, and all of them were kneeling, their expressions solemn and humble.
Surrounding them were large quadripod cauldrons, these cauldrons were very large and were placed in four directions.
“Four-cornered cauldrons?”
An Jing pondered, “The Great Yan Dynasty and the Nine Kingdoms also had cauldrons, but those were mostly tripod cauldrons. It seems that these people are practicing some form of worship or ritual. This carving appears to be from the Zhou Dynasty, or maybe even before that…”
The ritual rites of the Great Yan were already quite intricate, but the Nine Kingdoms and the Zhou Dynasty before it were criticized for being excessively ceremonious.
Following the direction of their worship, An Jing then couldn’t help but frown tightly.
The pattern in front had been blurred by the elements, and now it was so indistinct that even the faintest of marks had disappeared, as if intentionally smeared and damaged to confuse and mislead.
“Could this place be a worship site from the Zhou Dynasty or earlier?”
An Jing mused to himself.
What kind of ritual would take place in this cave?
Countless thoughts flashed through his mind without leaving a trace; An Jing took a deep breath and continued to walk forward.
“Whiz! Whiz!”
Just as his foot touched the ground, several flying arrows suddenly emerged from ahead.
Such fast flying arrows!
An Jing inwardly exclaimed, swinging his longsword.
“Clatter!”
The arrows flying forward dropped in an instant, but the force that shook out of them prompted An Jing to raise an eyebrow.
To think, back on Three Temple Mountain, even the arrows shot by the Xuanyi Guard’s bronze-ranked arrest officer had been easily blocked by him. The entrance standard for a bronze-ranked arrest officer was the cultivation of Fourth Grade, yet the force of the arrows before him was even sharper than that of a strong crossbow fired by a Fourth Grade expert.
How could this not shock him!?
After one batch of arrows was shot forward, another batch followed, as if they were endless.
“A Dark Crossbow, huh?”
An Jing sneered coldly, and his longsword spun in his hand.
Powerful Qi Force gathered into the longsword before he pushed with his palm.
“Whoosh!”
The longsword in his hand shot out directly, carrying a streak of flowing light.
Sword Control Technique!
The longsword rapidly pierced through the air with a howling sound and then fiercely struck the stone wall that had been releasing the Dark Crossbow.
“Boom!”
A massive sound erupted, and the stone wall instantly crumbled, with broken rocks exploding everywhere.
An Jing lifted his palm, and the fallen Flying Sword was guided back into his hand, its edge slightly rolled up.
The Dark Crossbow was a rather formidable mechanical technique that could unleash continuous and powerful arrows, but this mechanical skill had been lost for a very long time.
According to some fragmented ancient records from the Zhou Dynasty, it was already difficult to find a complete Dark Crossbow mechanism during the time of the Zhou Dynasty, which suggests that the Dark Crossbow mechanism had been lost by then.
Most of the Dark Crossbow mechanisms that appeared during the Zhou Dynasty were excavated from tombs. It’s said that the Human Emperor of the Great Zhou Dynasty wanted to find the method of creating Dark Crossbows, but it seems this goal was not achieved, or else the Dark Crossbow would not have been lost.
If anyone were present, seeing An Jing directly destroying the Dark Crossbow mechanism would be considered a violent waste and would be greatly lamented.
This was a long-lost Dark Crossbow mechanism, and if one could acquire the method to create it, it would cause a tremendous sensation.
“The Great Qin Dynasty?”
An Jing’s favorite pastime had been studying ancient books, and according to some historical records left behind, before the Great Zhou Dynasty, there was an even more powerful dynasty called the Great Qin Dynasty.
The strength of the Qin Dynasty seemed not inferior to that of the Great Zhou Dynasty and might even exceed it.
Yet, An Jing, who was well-versed in ancient texts, found something bizarre. According to some of them, the Qin Dynasty had a robust national power and ruled over most of the territories under the current heaven, including the areas of both the Great Yan and Zhao Countries.
At that time, the steppe was not unified and appeared to have been divided into dozens of tribes. Under the Qin cavalry, these tribes were blood-washed numerous times, with seven tribes completely erased from history.
The strength of the Qin Dynasty was a rarity throughout history.
Such a powerful dynasty disappeared very rapidly and mysteriously, as if it had been split into the Great Zhou Dynasty and Zhao Country in an instant. The record is very vague, only mentioning an internal rebellion in the Qin Dynasty. Afterward, the founder of Zhou Dynasty broke into the royal court of the Qin Dynasty, occupied the territory of the current Great Yan Dynasty to establish the Zhou Dynasty, and the founder of Zhao Country took the other half of the territory to start the thousands of years of history of Zhao Country.
Since then, the world had been divided in two, starting a great era of divided territories, and thousands of years later, this world has yet to be unified.
During the time of the Qin Dynasty, there was a Mo Family that was extremely proficient in creating mechanical techniques. Dark Crossbows were just one of their representative devices. It was said that the Mo Family could also make puppets—these puppets were very powerful and could even match some Third and Second Grade experts.
“Could this place have something to do with the Qin Dynasty…?”
An Jing was filled with disbelief.
The Zhou Dynasty was already considered an ancient dynasty, yet now an even older and more mysterious Qin Dynasty appeared.
An Jing continued to move forward. If this was a sacrificial site of the Qin Dynasty, then the mechanisms here were definitely not as simple as the ones before him.
There should be more…
As he progressed, he might trigger a mechanism at any moment.
The cave ahead was getting smaller and had become pitch-dark; the firestarter in An Jing’s hand was like a faint starlight in the darkness, glittering and shining.
After taking several dozen more steps, the surroundings were eerily silent, too silent to the point of being strange.
A faint light appeared in front of him.
An Jing quickened his steps involuntarily.
“Boom!”
Suddenly, a sensation as if his heart was being struck invaded him.
An Jing instinctively looked up, only to see a giant black sphere appearing above him. The black sphere seemed to be entirely made of metal, so large that it would take three or four people to embrace it together.
In almost the blink of an eye, the black iron ball fell down.
An Jing quickly focused his inner strength into his palm, and with a spring in his step, he struck upward at the black iron ball.
“Boom!”
The handprint was ferocious and domineering, directly confronting the massive black iron sphere.
A deafening sound echoed through the air.
The moment they came into contact, he only felt a numbness in his arm, followed by a sensation as though a thousand catties of force were crashing down on him, and he was actually repelled by the black iron sphere.
Surging inner strength continuously gathered and then all of it poured into his arm.
Behind An Jing, both the Human Flower and the Earth Flower fully materialized, with his inner strength reaching its peak.
But the iron sphere was like an immovable mountain.
“There’s something strange about this thing!”
An Jing frowned deeply, then with a leap, rushed forward.
“Thud!”
The black iron sphere, now unobstructed, fell heavily to the ground, but to everyone’s surprise, it didn’t shatter the ground; instead, it settled smoothly. However, the entrance was so narrow that it ended up completely blocking it.
Now, the way An Jing had come was utterly sealed off.
“Is the purpose of this iron sphere to trap me here?”
An Jing drew his longsword across, and a fierce sword radiance emanated from the blade.
“Slash!”
“Boom! Boom!”
The sword radiance slashed onto the black iron sphere, making the entire cave tremble violently, followed by countless rubble falling.
Yet the black iron sphere remained unmoved, showing only a faint white mark.
Then, An Jing swung his sword several times, and the results were no different from before. The black iron sphere was just like a stabilizer.
An Jing stepped forward and touched the black iron sphere, “It won’t do. If I keep hacking at this iron sphere, it might not break, but I could be buried alive by the falling rocks in this cave.”
This black iron sphere must be refined from some special metal, not only incredibly heavy but also indestructible.
With each strike of his sword, a huge noise came from above, shaking loose countless stones.
“Now I can only move forward.”
An Jing, seeing a faint light ahead, grew even more curious.
The hidden crossbows of the Qin Dynasty and the bizarre metal iron sphere—what secrets could be concealed inside this cave?
“Whoosh…”
The radiance of the Earth Book in his mind grew increasingly intense, seeming to signal that an opportunity was just before his eyes.
An Jing gripped his sword and cautiously made his way forward.
Faced with the unknown cave, he was on full alert.
The light ahead grew brighter and brighter, as if suddenly opening up.
Finally, An Jing stepped in to find a vast cavern. He saw that it was filled with strange boulders, and beside the boulders stood two wooden figures that were incredibly lifelike, their expressions and postures so vivid it was breathtaking.
A corpse qi filled the air all around.
“These clothes and armor don’t look like they’re from Yan Country, nor do they resemble those of the Zhou Dynasty,” mumbled An Jing as he examined the stone figures.
All along his journey, he became more and more certain that this cave must have been established before the Zhou Dynasty.
Around the cave walls, bright luminous pearls hung, emitting their radiant light. Indeed, it was these Night Light Pearls that shone, and upon counting them, there were twelve in total.
The Night Light Pearls, also known as night light stones, are an extremely rare type of stone that emits a faint light. With artisanal crafting, they can shine in colors like yellow-green, light blue, and orange-red, especially in the dark, when their glow is even more pronounced.
One Night Light Pearl is worth a fortune, let alone these twelve fist-sized ones.
“Nice stuff.”
An Jing glanced over and continued to look ahead. The center of the cavern was chaotic, with weapons scattered about, broken tables, and dozens of bamboo scrolls on the ground.
Bamboo scrolls?! Ever since the Great Zhou Dynasty developed papermaking, the use of bamboo scrolls has become increasingly rare. Only some royal families retained bamboo scrolls nowadays, and the most prolific and thriving period of bamboo scrolls was during the Great Qin Dynasty.
If it truly were from the Qin Dynasty, a thousand years would have passed, and this place should have decayed long ago. Could it be that because of the corpse qi, it did not rot?
The glow from the Earth Book became even brighter.
An Jing walked over slowly, preparing to pick up the bamboo scroll on the ground for a look.
Just then, a yellow skin scroll nearby caught his attention.
“Hmm!? Martial arts?”
He stretched out his hand, picked up the yellow scroll, and looked it over.
On the scroll, there were only a few bold characters. An Jing recognized only the last two characters, ‘Finger Technique.’
Besides the bold characters, there were also some animated human figures, the drawing was exquisite, making it very clear and understandable.
“This is a set of Heavenly Martial Level Finger Technique.”
An Jing examined it for a moment, thinking to himself in surprise.
Heavenly Martial Level martial arts were already considered top-notch in Jianghu. Zhenyi Sect, Ghost Valley Sect, and other top Jianghu powers’ most guarded secrets were Heavenly Martial Level mental methods.
A Heavenly Martial Level martial arts manual could set off a storm of blood and slaughter in the Great Yan Martial World, even tempting some First Grade Experts.
Besides the Hundred-step Flying Sword and the Ghost Valley Heart Method that Jiang Sanjia had given him, An Jing’s highest level was only True Martial.
“Better put it away for now.”
An Jing picked up the yellow scroll, then tucked it into his chest.
“Click, click, click!” “Click, click, click!”
Just as he put away the scroll, the wooden figures standing on both sides seemed to come to life.
“Whoosh!”
An Jing reacted extremely fast, his body lunging forward in an instant.
“Boom!”
One of the wooden figures smashed its fist to the ground, causing stones to shatter and fly, and the whole ground shook.
“What fearsome strength!?”
An Jing was somewhat surprised to see this.
Although the strength was not a threat to him, he was after all an expert of the Earth Flower Realm, while the opponent was just a piece of wood.
Before long, the two wooden figures were moving fluidly like real people, without any hesitation in their movements, and their steps were incredibly fast.
“Boom!”
A fist came thundering through, exploding with a piercing sound through the air.
An Jing’s face remained calm, his footwork solid, as he met the incoming punch with his own.
“Bang!”
At the moment the two fists collided, the wooden figure’s entire arm halted, then burst apart with a ‘boom,’ and its body skidded backward along the ground, not stopping until it hit the cave wall and embedded itself before coming to rest.
“Swish!”
An Jing pointed with his longsword, body lunging forward, merging into one entity with the sword, charging towards the other wooden figure.
“Chi!”
The tip of his sword directly targeted the heart of the wooden figure.
“Crack!” “Crack!”
The wooden figure stiffened, then a succession of sounds of mechanism jamming followed.
“Is this the Mo Family’s Puppet Mechanism?”
An Jing was greatly surprised by this.
The strength of the two wooden figures was immense; though they lacked combat techniques, their speed was fast, and their power could barely be considered that of a Third Grade Cultivation expert.
Third Grade Cultivation, which would be enough to be regarded as fairly skilled in Jianghu.
“These wooden puppets are truly miraculous.”
An Jing murmured to himself, then picked up a bamboo slip from the ground, revealing a look of surprise.
“Mechanical Puppet Technique!?”
The bamboo slip recorded the method for crafting mechanical puppets.
An Jing then directed his sword qi at other slips on the ground. Without exception, all these bamboo slips were documenting the Mo Family’s Mechanical Secret Skills, including the crafting process for Dark Crossbows, as well as the methods for making Mechanical Puppets. There were also other Mo Family’s Mechanical Techniques.
If not for seeing it with his own eyes, An Jing would never have believed that the Mo Family’s Puppet Mechanism Skill was so exquisite and mysterious.
One of the bamboo slips even recorded an enormous Heavenly Puppet Mechanism Beast, ten meters tall and thirty meters long, capable of carrying people, transporting food and equipment.
This Heavenly Puppet Mechanism Beast was so astonishing that An Jing was shocked and found it hard to believe.
“Is this puppetry technique real or fake?”
This thing, if placed under a major force, would be a treasure beyond measure, it could even possibly change the current world order.
And the next moment, one entry less appeared on the Earth Book’s prompt, the one that disappeared was precisely the blue opportunity instruction.
This indicated that the bamboo scrolls before him were the very blue opportunity indicated by the Earth Book.
The value of this secret technique from the Mo Family was immeasurable; any single one of these scrolls was worth more than the Heavenly Martial Arts in his hands. In fact, they were hardly comparable, and if given to an ambitious person, they would willingly exchange even ten Heavenly Martial Level mental methods for it.
For example, the Sect Hierarch of the Demon Sect, who hoped to make a return to Great Yan; the Human Emperor who currently presided over Yujing City; the Royal Family of Zhao Country; the Houjin Dynasty of the great plains; or other similarly ambitious individuals.
An Jing exhaled lightly, finding the item somewhat useless to him since he wasn’t planning a rebellion against Great Yan like the Demon Sect was—he had no need for it.
“But it’s still a treasure regardless.”
An Jing carefully gathered all the bamboo scrolls together.
Useless now, they might become useful someday.
Then An Jing took out the bamboo scrolls for making and controlling wooden figures, and according to the instructions on them, he went over to the wooden figures and started to manipulate them.
One of the wooden figures was stuck in the wall, and once An Jing dug it out, he was able to control it quite easily.
The other wooden figure was seriously damaged; it seemed that the mechanism inside its heart had been shattered by him.
According to these bamboo scrolls, making a wooden figure was not easy. It required not only extremely proficient craftsmanship but also expensive materials, some of which An Jing had never even heard of.
Hence, a wooden figure was indeed very precious.
“I wonder if it can be repaired.”
An Jing approached the wooden figure to examine it, and—following the instructions on the bamboo scrolls—he managed to fix it before long.
It had to be said that this wooden figure was extremely resilient; though its exterior was wooden, the interior was composed of iron blocks and the material appeared to be not much different from the black iron sphere blocking the entrance.
Moreover, the Mo Family’s puppet mechanism skill was indeed exceptional.
Afterward, An Jing directed the two wooden figures to carry the bamboo scrolls, while he himself searched the surroundings.
“The Earth Book shows there’s still another blue opportunity.”
Besides the bamboo scrolls and wooden figures, there didn’t seem to be anything else of value in the vast cave.
The weapons on the ground had been corroded by the years, covered in rust and did not seem like treasures.
“Could it be that one must trigger a mechanism?”
After walking around the cave for a full circle and finding no traces or clues, An Jing couldn’t help but mutter to himself.
As he walked under a luminous pearl, the Earth Book in his mind suddenly released a burst of extreme brilliance.
“Could it be this?”
An Jing looked at the luminous pearl and slightly raised his eyebrows, then placed his hand on it.
He tried to gently turn it, but the luminous pearl didn’t budge.
“Could it be that I am opening it wrong?”
An Jing began to closely examine the luminous pearl.
Whether he tapped or rotated it, the luminous pearl showed no sign of anomaly.
And as An Jing walked away into the distance, the light from the Earth Book began to diminish, suggesting that the remaining blue opportunity must be related to this luminous pearl.
Half a quarter of an hour passed without An Jing finding any clue.
He even compared the luminous pearl with others nearby, but after observing, he found no differences in luster or temperature—all seemed ordinary, with no discrepancies.
“Could it be inside this luminous pearl?”
An Jing suddenly had a thought and then punched towards the luminous pearl.
“Bang!”
The luminous pearl, priceless as it was, got smashed into powder by An Jing’s fist, with the fragments falling to the ground, still emitting a faint glow.
“Boom! Boom!”
The very next moment, the whole cave shook violently as if there was an earthquake.
“What’s going on?”
An Jing quickly directed the wooden figures to retreat to a corner of the cave.
“Crack! Crack!”
What came next shocked An Jing—a sight unfolded before him as the ground of the cave’s center quaked intensely. A long, narrow crack emerged from the middle, and the ground split open, dividing into two halves.
Dozens of breaths later, all became calm again.
An Jing looked around uncertainly, waited for a few more breaths, and then quickly walked over to where the ground had split, only to see a coffin emerged from below.
The entire coffin was black, giving off a sense of antiquity and heaviness without any sacrificial utensils placed beside it.
Moreover, there was an extremely dense Corpse Qi entwined within the coffin, as if it was about to condense into droplets.
The Corpse Qi in this cave was seemingly emitting from this very coffin.
“Such astonishing Corpse Qi, is the blue opportunity actually inside this?” An Jing raised his eyebrows, suddenly feeling uncertain.
The connection between the blue opportunity and Corpse Qi was somewhat baffling.
“Bang!”
The next moment, while An Jing hesitated, he saw the coffin lid burst open with a loud bang, and then shattered into pieces. n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
“Who’s there!?”
A figure rushed out of the coffin, stirring up several black streams of Corpse Qi, trembling the air, and emanating boundless prestige.
An Jing did not hesitate and immediately slashed with his sword.
A vast and boundless Sword Light charged toward the black Corpse Qi, and as the golden Sword Light neared the black Corpse Qi, the evil aura within the latter slowly retreated.
But in the next instant, the black Corpse Qi surged back with a force that seemed to uproot everything, directly scattering An Jing’s Sword Light.
Spurt! Spurt! Spurt!
Several streams of black Corpse Qi surged forward, and An Jing’s chest was heavily struck by them, a surge of golden light burst forth from within him, shattering the Corpse Qi.
“Step step step step…”
An Jing continually retreated backward, his heart stirring like a tempestuous sea.
Such a strong expert!
Merely the overflow of Qi Force had repelled him, and he was a First Grade Earth Flower Realm expert, though he had only recently stepped into the Earth Flower Realm, had refined a strand of nature’s spiritual energy, and condensed half-step Golden Bone, his strength was among the top in the Earth Flower Realm.
But he was repelled by that person’s Qi Force, indicating how terrifyingly powerful the figure before him must be.
This person was very likely in the Grandmaster Realm!
Yet, a Grandmaster expert was inside a coffin.
What on earth was this for?
An Jing’s heart surged, and he retreated even further.
Looking up, he saw a man, his complexion pale as a sheet of paper, his eyes dark as if they contained all the evil in the world – fierce, tyrannical, cruel, murderous… It sent chills down one’s spine.
But at the moment when his gaze met An Jing’s, the aura in the pair of eyes disappeared instantly, revealing a glimpse of clarity.
“You… you are…”
The figure stood on the ground, looking blankly at An Jing, his words coming out intermittently.
“Who are you?” An Jing asked solemnly.
The presence of a Grandmaster Realm expert necessitated his gravity.
“It was you who saved me…”
The man looked at An Jing with a somewhat dull expression: “Thank you, kind stranger.”
“I saved you?”
An Jing was greatly puzzled and said, “Who are you exactly?”
He had saved him?
Perhaps it was he who had activated the mechanism, allowing the Grandmaster to escape from entrapment.
But why was he in a coffin, and how long had he been there? These were the questions troubling An Jing.
“I… I… What is my name?”
The man seemed to be lost, shaking his head, “I don’t know either.”
A Grandmaster Realm expert didn’t know his own name?!
Listening to this, An Jing found it very strange, and how could his body be engulfed in Corpse Qi?
The man touched his head, murmuring to himself, “I remember now, I have to go to Su Wang Mountain.”
“Go to Su Wang Mountain?”
An Jing thought for a moment, realizing that this place seemed to be at the border between Zhao Country and Yan Country, and it was a high mountain that was quite famous.
“Yes, it’s Mount Xu,” he said.
The man nodded, “Thank you for rescuing me. I do not know how to address you, but if you need help, I shall not refuse.”
“My name is Jing’an.”
Although An Jing had many questions, he felt a stirring in his heart at this moment. The person before him could be a grandmaster-level expert. If that was true, then this favor could be extremely valuable.
“Jing’an.”
The man murmured, as if to engrave this name deeply in his mind.
“What is your name?” An Jing asked.
“Me?”
The man seemed startled and after a long pause finally said, “I feel that my mind is blank. Perhaps you could give me a name as well.”
“Give you a name?”
An Jing eyed the person before him and suddenly felt a strange emotion as he slowly pondered, “Since you are heading to Mount Xu, how about the name Xu Wang (King of Xu)?”
“Xu Wang? That’s a good name,” the man said excitedly clapping his hands.
“Do you really not remember anything?” An Jing cautiously asked.
He was filled with doubts about the grandmaster-level expert who had appeared before him.
This seemed like a place built by the Great Qin Dynasty. Could this Xu Wang be a person from the Qin Dynasty? An Jing quickly shook his head at that thought. Surely not, even a great grandmaster would only have their lifespan increased by three hundred years, living no more than five hundred years.
However, the Qin Dynasty was thousands of years in the past, and even a great grandmaster would have turned to dust long ago.
But what about the corpse qi surrounding Xu Wang’s body? If an ordinary person were contaminated with corpse qi, their blood would start to coagulate. To say nothing of moving normally, being alive at all would be fortunate.
Yet, Xu Wang’s body was surrounded by a massive amount of corpse qi, as if enveloped by it, and he seemed to have no abnormality at all.
“I don’t remember,” Xu Wang replied as he looked lost, shaking his head.
“Alright.”
An Jing nodded, resigning himself to this reality.
Xu Wang scratched his head, seemingly embarrassed as he looked toward An Jing, “Jing’an, I am going to Mount Xu and may not be able to repay you just yet. Do you know how to leave this place?”
An Jing thought and said, “It seems the paths are sealed, but I can take you there to see.”
He had no way to deal with that iron sphere, but perhaps Xu Wang could resolve it.
Xu Wang’s face bore a serious look as he pledged earnestly, “Alright, I’ll trouble you then. I’ll remember your kindness for a lifetime.”
Afterward, An Jing commanded the two wooden figures to clear the way ahead while he and Xu Wang followed behind.
Somehow, when An Jing got close to Xu Wang, he felt as if his blood might solidify, which was followed by a suffocating sensation.
“What’s wrong?” Seeing An Jing move a couple of steps to the side, Xu Wang couldn’t help but ask.
“It’s nothing, your qi mechanism is just too intense,” An Jing said as he gathered his inner strength around his body to protect it.
Even with his skills, being enveloped in such dense corpse qi would be quite troublesome.
“Oh.”
Upon hearing this, Xu Wang nodded woodenly and after a while asked, “Am I different from normal people?”
“Yes.”
An Jing thought for a moment and then advised, “If possible, you should completely retract your qi mechanism, otherwise, it might cause trouble.”
“I understand.”
Upon hearing that, Xu Wang closed his eyes, and the corpse qi around him began to spiral into his body. Subsequently, the cold around An Jing gradually vanished.
“You can control that qi mechanism?” An Jing asked in surprise.
Controlling qi mechanisms was an extremely frightening aspect of martial arts or secret techniques, rare in the world; and such martial arts usually exhausted the body severely. Such techniques were mostly learned by generals engaged in the slaughter on battlefields, and they often did not live long.
“I don’t know, I just thought about it, and then it was under control,” Xu Wang replied.
An Jing nodded imperceptibly, his curiosity about Xu Wang’s origins growing.
It wasn’t long before they arrived at the black iron sphere.
Pointing to the iron sphere, An Jing said, “If we want to get out, we must break through this black iron sphere.”
What do you think?
