A Record of a Mortal's Journey to Immortality: Immortal Realm

Chapter 1177: New Kings

Chapter 1177: New Kings

A hint of surprise flashed through Han Li's eyes upon hearing this, while the rest of the primordial beings were nothing short of astonished.

To them, the Holy Primordial Palace was an even more sacred place than the holy mountain. It was the center of their faith, and allowing a human to enter the palace was blasphemy and sacrilege of the highest order!

Even Lekima was rather perplexed by this turn of events.

"Your Majesty, no!" the chief of the Huntun Tribe exclaimed, and all of the other tribal chiefs also voiced their vehement objections to this decision.

Qing Dian and the young master of the Zouwu Tribe had also turned to Han Li with mixed emotions in their eyes. They had no idea that Bai Ze held Han Li in such high regard, and they were beginning to wonder if it would be a good idea to try and exact vengeance against him.

A hesitant look also appeared on Han Li's face upon hearing these vehement objections, but Bai Ze declared in an authoritative voice, "This Holy Primordial Palace was constructed by myself and the other seven True Spirit Kings, so I get to decide who gets to go in."

All of the primordial beings continued to voice their objections, but Bai Ze had already turned to depart.

Lekima and the other representatives hurriedly followed along, and after a brief hesitation, Han Li ultimately decided to oblige.

Even after they had already entered the palace, the objections were still ringing out incessantly.

However, as soon as the heavy gates of the palace were shut, all of the dissenting voices were instantly drowned out.

The interior of the palace was very dimly lit, with a lit brazier at the center of the palace serving as the only light source.

Han Li looked around to discover a series of tall stone statues, of which there were eight in total, and they depicted the Taowu, the Zhuyan, the Rahu, Bai Ze, the Giant Mountain Ape, the Sky Roaming Kun Peng, the Nine Tailed Immortal Fox, and the Ink-Eyed Pixiu.

In front of each statue was a stone chair, but all of them had clearly been vacant for a very long time.

Liu Le'er was staring at the statue of the Nine Tailed Immortal Fox, and she could sense a faint connection to it.

Meanwhile, Xiao Bai was staring intently at the statue of the Ink-Eyed Pixiu. Even though the state was very similar to himself in appearance, he felt no sense of connection or affinity to it at all. Instead, it appeared completely alien and distant.

All of the other representatives were also looking at their corresponding bloodline ancestors with a wide spectrum of different emotions in their eyes, including curiosity, veneration, and excitement.

"These are the statues of the eight ancient True Spirit Kings. Some of them were my close friends, while others were sworn enemies of mine, but all of us set our differences aside for the sake of bringing peace to the primordial land.

“Together, we built this Holy Primordial Palace for it to serve as a home for the Asura Blood Gate, and all of you have gathered here today to use the true spirit king bloodlines in your bodies as keys to unlock these gates," Bai Ze declared.

"Please tell us what needs to be done, Your Majesty," everyone implored in unison.

"Out of the eight True Spirit Kings, the Rahu and the Sky Roaming Kun Peng left Eight Plains Mountain not long after this place was built, while the rest have all gone missing. It's unclear what fates they have met, and it's entirely possible that they could be dead. The only way to find out if any of them are still alive would be through observing the opening of the gates," Bai Ze continued, making no effort to hide these secrets from Han Li.Nôv(el)B\\jnn

To all of the primordial beings present, the ancestors who had bestowed their bloodlines upon them were nothing short of legendary deities, and it was very difficult for them to come to terms with the fact that some, or perhaps even most of these legendary figures were no longer of this world.

"There's no need to feel dejected. All of us are born from heaven and earth, and we possess certain innate powers and abilities. Even if we perish, our bloodline powers will fuse with the laws of time, and they'll be gradually devoured by the Heavenly Dao, but won't disappear completely.

“Once the Asura Blood Gate is opened, those bloodline powers will return to the Holy Primordial Palace, and as heirs to their bloodlines, there's a very good chance that you'll inherit their power to become new True Spirit Kings!" Bai Ze declared.

Everyone was astonished to hear this.

The notion of becoming a new True Spirit King was most likely the most alluring thing conceivable for a primordial being.

At this point, their hearts were filled with conflicted emotions, and they didn't know if they should hope for their true spirit ancestors' return, or pray that they had already perished.

Bai Ze could see the changes in everyone's expressions, but he displayed no reaction.

He was well aware of what everyone was thinking, but it didn't matter to him.

"The flame in the brazier before all of you was collectively lit by the eight of us. Right now, it's far weaker than before, indicating that some of them really have perished. All representatives, heed my call," Bai Ze ordered, and everyone stepped forward to surround the brazier, while Han Li trailed along a small distance away, standing behind Xiao Bai as he observed everything in silence.

The animosity that everyone felt toward Han Li abated slightly at this thoughtful gesture, but in their eyes, it was still a disgrace to the holy palace that a human had been allowed to enter it.

However, none of them dared to display their displeasure in the presence of the True Spirit King.

Bai Ze swept his gaze over everyone, then joined his palms together in front of his chest, releasing waves of rippling, golden light that proliferated through the air in expanding layers.

A series of large, golden flowers that resembled lotus flowers emerged over the ground beneath the waves of golden light, and everyone reflexively moved back in retreat upon seeing this.

Han Li focused his gaze on the golden flowers to discover that they were formed by clusters of dense runes that were giving off a very peculiar aura.

In the presence of this aura, everyone felt as if their bloodlines had been connected with their own bodies, following which it felt as if their feet had taken root to the ground, becoming inseparable from the earth.

Han Li's feet were also rooted to the ground like everyone else, and initially, he was quite alarmed by this turn of events, but he quickly discovered that this was simply a result of the true spirit bloodlines in his body connecting with the earth beneath his feet.

He could easily sever this bloodline connection to free himself, but after a brief hesitation, he ultimately decided not to as he could clearly sense that the true spirit bloodlines in his body were quite fond of this connection.

As these golden flowers began to bloom, specks of light that resembled gold dust rose up from the ground to quickly fill the entire palace, giving everything a rather hazy and murky appearance.

A layer of gold dust fell upon the eight True Spirit King statues, all of which began to glow radiantly like manifestations of deities.

A reminiscent look flashed through Bai Ze's eyes upon seeing this, and he strode over to his own statues before sitting down onto the stone chair in front of it.

"Each of you, extract a drop of your own essential blood essence and cast it into the brazier," he instructed.

Everyone immediately carried out the instruction without any hesitation, with each of them extending a hand forward before forcing out a drop of essential blood essence.

The palace was so quiet that the sound of the blood essence dripping down into the brazier was clearly audible, and the golden flame inside instantly reared up, while a series of illusory shadows appeared within it.

Han Li swept his gaze over golden flame to discover that the shadows were projections of the true forms of the eight True Spirit King.

Immediately thereafter, eight fiery shadows flew out of the golden flame, and each of them flew toward one of the eight surrounding statues before vanishing into their glabellas.

The eight statues instantly began to tremble violently while radiating dazzling light, filling the entire stone palace with five-colored radiance.

At the same time, bursts of bright light rose up from all of the mountain paths leading up Eight Plains Mountain, illuminating the entire heavens.

Eight enormous true spirit projections appeared in the night sky, presenting a breathtaking sight to behold, and all of the primordial beings on Eight Plains Mountain immediately fell to their knees and began kowtowing in reverence and prayer.

There was no one striking the gong on the mountain summit or the drum at the foot of the mountain, but they began sounding off on their own, and all of a sudden, the sound of that melodious primordial war song rang out over the entire mountain, spreading far and wide.

Just like the primordial beings on the mountain, millions of primordial beings fell to their knees in prayer in Primordial Garrison City, but right at this moment, the projection of the Giant Mountain Ape in the night sky suddenly faded away.

At the same time, the ball of holy fire that had flown into the statues of the Giant Mountain Ape in the Holy Primordial Palace also faded away, while the gold dust that had fallen upon the statue became completely devoid of luster.

This triggered a chain reaction, and the holy flames on the glabellas of all of the other statues also flew back into the brazier in rapid succession, following which the statues themselves fell completely dim.

Everyone on the plaza on the mountain summit immediately turned to the chief of the Mountain Moving Ape Tribe with furious expressions upon seeing this. The disintegration of the Giant Mountain Ape projection was a clear indication that the chosen bloodline heir was not fit to inherit its bloodline at all.
